Mike and
Phyllis Foraker
David Michael Foraker and Phyllis Foraker are largely the product of hard-working blue-collar parents.
Phyllis spent her early years living with her mother, father, and three sisters in a small town in Andretta, Italy. Her parents raised vegetables and a few farm animals and worked wheat fields in the summer months. Phyllis and each of her three sisters were expected to come straight home from school and work with their parents to help put food on the table. Her mother baked bread weekly in a community oven located in the small Andretta Plaza. Phyllis and her family moved to New York in June of 1966 and then to Riverside, California, in 1974.

A Paragraph from Chapter Five
The onset of Chapter Five seems ideally suited to give the readers a bit more information on how this book came about. The decision to write William’s story was a joint decision between the two parents, Mike and Phyllis. After much thought, we came to believe that his story has the power to touch lives and educate the general populace on an unprecedented scale while fostering a greater understanding of the scourge of untreated mental illness. As co-authors, each of us has thoroughly reviewed articles William wrote, notes that Phyllis kept regarding numerous incidents, and we have dug deep into our collective memories to ensure that each chapter is an accurate reflection of the unfolding of his mental illness and the resultant impacts on both his and our lives.
